Molching is located in the outskirts of Munich in Germany the road to the Dachau Concentration camp passes through Molching. and it is located on the banks of the Amper river. Liesel is brought up on Himmel street, which death tells us is a direct translation of heaven. “Whoever named Himmel Street has a healthy sense of irony. Not that it was a living hell. It wasn’t. But it sure wasn’t heaven, either.” this irony shows the reader that Marcus Zusac wants the reader to understand that Himel street is seen by Liesel as homely and comforting but from the outside it is a living hell.
